Walking the cobble paved stones my mind searches for the intuitive hit of when my damn luggage will actually arrive. It's a moment that thankfully quickly passes and I am once again pulled into the beauty of the medieval city or large town, Edinburgh, Scotland. Locally pronounced 'ED-IN-BURRA'. Charmed with medieval sights everywhere, my friends and I walk in pairs taking in the smells of local cuisine and the smell of passerbyers perfume which form new memories not soon to be forgotten. The sounds of buses and trams of busy streets fill our outside street walking with awe. Castles and the massive sandstone monumental structures make me wonder many a times...what was it really like to be here in the lifetime(s) this medieval city was created in? Were people happy even though times were harsh and unpredictable? Surely people fell in love, got married, had babies, loved, hated, struggled, yet, were they happy? Did they rejoice in the small things? A freshly baked loaf? A warm cup of watered down brew? Were they in fear of their future? If you were female did you receive respect? Did you respect and love yourself? Did you have the courage to speak your truth? Has anything really changed in this 21st century? I desire to enjoy the small things. A lovely glass of wine with my beautiful friends. Enjoying the sunset on a famous mound. Feeling the freedom to roam this gorgeous planet and the freedom to express myself. To move. To love. To create. The Scottish know what I'm talking about. Breathing in Edinburgh❤
